A shortcut to the daily use of numerology
What name do you use?
No matter whether you need an in-depth evaluation of the numbers
or you just need a quick check, the secret to making numerology
useful is to become familiar with the meaning of the numbers.
When you know the numbers thoroughly, your response can be almost
automatic.
For this article we are considering only the first name or a
single name, not the full name.
Obviously, a complete chart will provide an accurate and useful
view of a person or business. Sometimes we do not have the data
for a full chart. At other times we just need a way to know how
to approach another person in a particular situation.
Each of us presents a face to the world. We want others to see us
in a certain light. Chances are good that we will respond favorably
when someone picks up on that image and treats us accordingly. That
face is coded in the name that we generally use.
Some people go by a nick-name, some insist on a formal use of the
full
name. Friends may give you a name that has no relationship to your
true name. It may be an affectionate title, such as Bubbles, or it
may relate to a physical trait, such as Shorty. But unless the
energies from the numbers of that name fit the individual the
designation will not stick.
You may also find that at different times in your life, or in
different aspects of your life, such as at work, at home or with
friends, you use different names, or different forms of the name.
In my own life, I started out as Danny. When I return to the church
of my youth, the old-timers still call me Danny. During my legal
and sales career, I was almost exclusively known as Dan. Now, as
a numerologist, Daniel seems to be more appropriate. What is the
difference? Danny reduces to a 22/4. This early time was a time
of great dreams and academic success. After being graduated from
college, I realized that I had the responsibility to make my
career happen, so I became Dan, which reduces to a 1. The 1 is
independent. Opening my own office fit in with the 1 energy.
Daniel reduces to a nine, which is concerned with improving the
world. This phase of my life has a strong metaphysical emphasis,
so Daniel feels comfortable.
You may want to explore the names that you have used throughout
your life. Do you go by different names for each of your
relationships? The name that you use tells a lot about how
you view that relationship. If you use a different name at home
than you do at work, you probably have made a distinct
separation between work and your private life. If your family
has a pet name for you that is not used anywhere else, you can
gain an understanding of how your family views you.
To determine the emphasis of each name or name form, use the
conversion table in the footnote. Convert the letters to numbers
and add the digits of each letter. Keep adding the results until
you get a single number. That number provides a good clue as to
how you view yourself, or how you want others to view you.
Getting a quick reading on a person
Again, using only the first name or nick-name that is being used,
Check out the first vowel and the first consonant if it precedes
the vowel. Remember that the vowel energy is stronger than the
consonant. When the name has 2 vowels that have a single sound,
use both.
Examples: Amy - only consider the A
Peter - Consider the E and the P
Laura - consider the AU and the L
Theodore - consider the E (the O is in a different
syllable and is not considered) and the t. The H
is not considered.
The values of the vowels are:
A=1, independent, innovative, a self-starter
E=5, A free spirit, Looking for excitement and new
experiences
I=9, Idealist, perfectionist, very giving, artistic,
emotional
O=6, loving, care-giving, balanced, performer, Responsible
U=3, communicator, writer, talker, quick-witted, lucky, restless
The values of the consonants follow the numbers and are set out
in the conversion chart.
Evaluating our example names we can quickly say that:
Amy (a 1 vowel) is a person who will have a lot of
ideas and will want to put them into effect. She is a leader,
and keeps everything moving forward
Peter (a 5 vowel and a 7 consonant) Peter shows himself
as a person who is keenly interested in anything new and different.
With a 7 consonant he will not be rash or impulsive , but will
think through his actions.
Laura (a 1 and a 3 vowel and a 3 consonant) presents
herself as a person with ideas, who is not hesitant to talk
about them. With the double 3 she may talk more than she acts.
She has a sparkling personality.
Theodore (a 5 vowel and a 2 consonant) loves anything
new and different, but hesitates to try things. He needs
encouragement, but can easily be persuaded to new activities.
Try this quick check on your coworkers and family. You may be
surprised by what you find. Running the first names of all the
people in the office, you get a feel for the lines of power,
which may be quite different from the hierarchy chart.
This conversion table is for the English alphabet. Adjustments
need to be made for other alphabets.

We use Y and W sometimes as a vowel and sometimes as a consonant.
If the Y or W follows another vowel and shares a sound with it, we
consider it to be a vowel as in Ray or Rowe. If it has a separate
sound it is a consonant, as in Young or Wade. For this calculation
you do not need to separate the vowels and consonants.
