The Importance of Your Decision Making Style
The numerology chart for your business contains a wealth of information that can
make your business run more smoothly and more profitably. In prior articles we
have discussed the major core numbers. For those of you who are new to this
newsletter, you may benefit from reviewing the articles in the archives. The
first volume will give you a clearer understanding of the core numbers in your
chart.
The decision making process deals with a modifier number. We are beginning to
fine tune some of the number effects.
To calculate the Rational Thought number, which is the number of decision making
in non-crisis situations, convert all the letters of the first name of the
business into numbers according to the chart at the bottom of this article (a is
1. b is 2, and so forth through i is 9, then start over again at j is 1, k is 2,
etc.) When you have a total of the values of all the letters (both vowels and
consonants) keep adding the results until you get a single digit. For example
for Life Path (we consider this the first name of the business, even though it
is two words) Numerology Center, Inc. the result is 3+9+6+5+7+1+2+8=41=5.
Add this single digit to the day number of the founding date. Life Path
Numerology Center, Inc, was incorporated on October 26, 1996. We are only
concerned with the 26, which reduces to 8 (2+6=8). Adding the 5 from the first
name and the 8 from the founding day we have a rational thought number of 4.
(5+8=13=4).
Before going into the specifics of the effect of each number, we need to
determine the benefit of knowing this number. When you make decisions for your
business based upon the style of its rational thought number, your decisions
will be in tune with the needs of the business. In the example from Life Path
Numerology Center, Inc., a 4 rational thought number tells me that any decision
that involves the corporation should be based upon logic. In all steps a
practical approach will be best. Decisions based upon emotion will likely turn
out badly. A frugal viewpoint is desirable. An impulsive decision will
invariably lead to financial challenges. The 4 must be attentive to all the
details affecting the decision.
The truth of this position is proven through our own experience. Over the years
in business, we have gone after sure things, can't miss opportunities, that
totally failed to fulfill our high hopes. Another business that has a risk
taking rational thought number could well have taken that same opportunity and
made a great success of it.
What to do when your personal rational thought number is in conflict with the
rational thought number of the business
I use the example of our own business because I have all the necessary data for
the example. My personal rational thought number is a 3. The 3 tends to trust to
luck and its ability to talk its way out of difficult situations. It is a
spendthrift, and takes a hit or miss attitude about decision making. So you see
there is a major conflict between the business decision making style and my
personal decision making style.
There really is no way to co-ordinate these two conflicting styles. In decisions
that affect the corporation, the detailed approach is mandatory. In decisions
affecting my personal life I can be more care-free and flippant. If I can't do
the necessary detail work to make proper corporate decisions, to make the
business successful, I need to bring in consultants who can advise with a
suitable attention to detail. These people can be Board Members, paid
consultants or a mentor. Fortunately, my core energies contain a 4 life path
number and a 1 expression. This means that I have the capability of attending to
the detail, but the challenge is to remember that this due diligence is
necessary.
So how do your business and personal rational thought numbers correspond?
The following list gives a brief indication of the effect of each of the
rational thought numbers:
1 Seek out innovative ideas. Don't be unduly influenced by tradition or by other
people. Support the decision in the face of opposition.
2 Seek the advice of knowledgeable people and reach a consensus before
proceeding. Be cautious. Follow the path that has been proven to work.
3 Keep an upbeat attitude about whatever decision is made. Make modifications as
the situation dictates. Don't stew over the decision. An intuitive decision will
work as well as a long process of study.
4 be sure that the finances of the decision are sound. Tried and true methods
will work better than an innovative approach. Flamboyance is counter-productive.
5 Stay on the cutting edge. Reasonable risk-taking is desirable. Avoid conflict
as much as possible by walking away from confrontation. Bring together people
who usually do not work together. Adapt ideas from sources outside your field.
6 Bring balance to your decisions. A combination of fiscal responsibility and
emotional input is desirable. Consult with associates who will be affected by
the decision. Consider the total effect, then make your decision.
7 Make the decisions based upon your own analysis and observation. Consultation
will probably not increase the validity of the decision. Provide clear
information to those who will carry out the decision.
8 Look at the broad picture to see how this decision fits into the total plan.
Decisions are dictated from the top to be carried out by subordinates. Don't
dilute the decision by a lot of input.
9 Determine how each decision will benefit society or a segment of society. If
the benefit is not obvious, it is probably a bad decision.
Find your rational thought number and see whether this knowledge brings about
better decision making for your business. As always, I am interested in your
