Musings

For many people of my acquaintance or with whom I have spoken
casually, the past several months have been a time of testing.
There is an evident shifting in the surrounding energies that
was initiated by the Harmonic Concordance. The next several
years will see a sifting out of all that is not solidly based.
Some have questioned as to why such dire circumstances seem to
be happening to such good people.

Don't despair. Rejoice that you are worthy of the test. The
energy vibrations are speeding up throughout the earth plane.
Those whose own energies vibrate to this higher level are
experiencing new creative breakthroughs. This process is
designed to take humanity to the next level of development.

Those who vibrate at a lower level, and who are unable or
unwilling to meet this higher vibration, are reacting in very
negative ways. Their baser impulses become exaggerated. Violence
and meanness increase. The gap between these two groups is
widening and the common ground is hard to find. No one is
unaffected. You can choose your reaction.

A Bit of Philosophy

We find that error by excess is exemplified by every saintly
virtue. Excess, in human faculties, means usually one-sidedness
or want of balance; for it is hard to imagine an essential
faculty too strong, if only other faculties equally strong be
there to cooperate with it in action. Strong affections need a
strong will; strong active powers need a strong intellect;
strong intellect needs strong sympathies, to keep life steady.
If the balance exist, no one faculty can possibly be too strong
- we only get the stronger all-round character. In the life of
saints, technically so called, the spiritual faculties are
strong, but what gives the impression of extravagance proves
usually on examination to be a relative deficiency of intellect.
Spiritual excitement takes pathological forms whenever other
interests are too few and the intellect too narrow. We find this
exemplified by all the saintly attributes in turn - devout love
of God, purity, charity, asceticism, all may lead astray.

James. New York: Mentor Books, 1958.

Hewlett vs. Packard

(These articles highlighting men and women who have had high
achievement in business let us take a glimpse at the underlying
energies and how they applied these numbers to their business
interests. I trust that the example is helpful to your own
application of the numbers. In some instances the path of the
business is directly reflected in the numbers. In other
instances we can see success in spite of counter-balancing
numbers.)

Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard were college friends, who went on
to become solid business partners. The first bond in the numbers
occurs because they are both in the same energy cycle. As a
result, the same types of experiences occurred in their lives at
the same time. We might same that they were in sync. There was a
degree of competitive spirit between them stemming from Hewlett's
8 expression and 8 personality and from Packard's 8 integrative
vision number. To determine which name would be first in the
business, they resorted to a coin toss.

With each of these men needing to be on top, this partnership
would not have worked out without some strong cooperative
energies as well. Hewlett had a 2 birthday. His self-confidence
needed constant shoring up as shown by only one 1 in the
intensification table. Packard has a 2 life path, which allowed
him to be a good negotiator. His desire to avoid confrontation
probably went a long way toward keeping a smooth relationship.

Both these men had a skill with words that could effectively
sell their ideas. (Hewlett had a 3 life path and Packard had a 3
soul urge.)

Although both had the vision to see the big picture, Packard
would bring a critical view to any new project. He would want a
detailed financial projection and well thought out business
plan. He was not comfortable with constant changes once the
project was underway. You can be sure that before he gave his
approval to a new product he had analyzed it from every possible
angle. (7 birthday, 4 expression. 5 karmic lesson) He may not
have always disclosed his thinking, but he had valid reasons
whenever he disapproved.

Hewlett would be more inclined to jump in and see what would
happen. He loved being on the cutting edge, and at times could
be rash and impulsive. (seven 5s in the intensification table)
Packard's caution was a stable balance to keep the company on
track.

The company that they established was the Hewlett-Packard
Company. The company numbers incorporate both the rashness of
Hewlett in a 14/5 personality and the stability of Packard in
the 13/4 soul urge. These opposite extremes are tied together
with a 6 life path, which is the number of balance. The many
long years of association showed that the combination of the
numbers worked together effectively.

With a 9 soul urge Hewlett had a very strong philanthropic
motivation, which came to fruition in the Foundation which he
established, and which continues to this day. Packard would have
been supportive of these endeavors because of his 2 life path.
The company has a 9 expression, which would mean that the
company also would succeed only to the extent that it was
providing a positive benefit to society beyond the production
and distribution of products.

The charitable outreach did not hinder both men from becoming
very wealthy as is required by the strong 8 emphasis in both
charts. In fact, their generosity set up a flow that allowed
wealth to be returned to them.
