Musings

In our part of the world we have just entered spring by the calendar. When we think of spring we picture flowers blooming, birds chirping and temperatures in the light jacket to shirt-sleeve range. But this year spring has arrived with snow and wind and winter coat temperatures of a cold 19 degrees at night.

We do not despair because we know that this is a last gasp of winter and that before long the typical spring weather will arrive. We know this by the calendar and by past experience. It is time for warmth and new life. If we were unaware of the cycles of the year, or choose to ignore the calendar, We could easily become discouraged by the lingering cold.

Many people are in this position with the cycles of their lives. They do not know the season. Each day they plod along with the experiences that are in front of them and feel that this is the way that situations will remain indefinitely.

With numerology you have the calendar of your personal cycles. If you are in a down time, you can calculate how long it will last. You will know when to expect the change for the better. Without this knowledge you may take drastic action from a point of despair that would have dire consequences for you. If you know when the energies will change and can plan accordingly, you will make a more rational decision. Most people can endure about anything as long as they can see an end point. It is when there is no hope for a change that despair sets in.

Do you know what season you are in?

A Bit of Philosophy

...it is as easy, and much pleasanter, to find elements of satisfaction instead of dissatisfaction in the daily run of events. All that is required is the will to feel satisfied, the wise individual knows that life is one damned frustration after another if you allow yourself to be frustrated, but it is also one satisfaction after another if you are determined to be satisfied. Trouble is where you make it.

An Olds Story

(These articles highlighting men and women who have had high
achievement in business allow us to take a glimpse at the
underlying energies and how they applied these numbers to their business interests. I trust that the example is helpful to your own
application of the numbers. In some instances the path of the
business is directly reflected in the numbers. In other
instances we can see success in spite of counter-balancing
numbers.)

The Data:

Birth Name: Ransom Eli Olds
Birth Date: June 3, 1864

Life Path 10/1
Expression 21/3
Soul Urge 18/9
Personality 12/3
Birthday 3
Integrative Vision 19/1

Olds Motor Vehicle Company
Founded: August 21, 1897

Life Path 18/9
Expression 21/3
Soul Urge 15/6
Personality 24/6
Birthday 21/3
Integrative Vision 27/9

Eli Ransom Olds was a creative genius (3 expression, 9 soul urge, 3 birthday, 3 personality) As with most people who have an overabundance of a single energy group, they may lack balance. He was fortunate in his date of birth. He was provided the business acumen and ambition of the 1 energy in his life path and in his integrative vision number.

With this chart, we would expect a man who would develop new products that were quite different from anything available. His Oldsmobile automobile from the start contained innovative elements that set it apart from other cars then being manufactured. The Oldsmobile to this day has the reputation of being on the cutting edge of automotive technology. This impetus toward new ideas is a direct legacy of Mr. Olds. My personal opinion is that General Motors is making a mistake in discontinuing this division.

This was a man who would follow his own ideas no matter how many critics said it couldn't be done. He would do it and, through his persuasive use of words, sell the idea to a wide market. With all the 3 energy in his chart, it may appear that he was just lucky. He had a knack for being at the right place at the right time. This good fortune stemmed directly from his finer vibratory rate from that 3 energy. As long as he kept an upbeat attitude, he attracted situations that vibrated also at this higher rate. In effect he manifested these favorable circumstances from within himself.

When he established the Olds Motor Vehicle Company, whether intuitively or by design, the chosen name emphasized his own traits. The entire chart of the company is creative energy, with solid business judgment coming from the 6 soul urge and the 6 personality. With a 9 life path and a 9 integrative vision number, there may have been too strong a push for perfection. If the company had waited until every detail was without flaw before beginning production, we would never have seen an Oldsmobile on the road. Fortunately, this tendency toward impossible perfection was kept within reasonable limits.

The name "Oldsmobile" has an 8 soul urge and a 7 expression. It needed a stronger business backing than the Olds Motor Vehicle Company could give it. From its inception the marketing for the Oldsmobile, based upon the company numbers, would emphasize good-taste, comfort and excitement. Ads that talk of money and prestige were demanded by the name of the car, but would have raised doubts in the market about the company. This was a conflict that could not be easily resolved. I have not looked at these old ads to see which approach was actually taken, but it would be interesting to know which ads were most effective. Your homework assignment is to go to the newspaper archives of the early 1900s to see if you can find examples.

The numbers in neither the chart of Mr. Olds nor the Olds Motor Vehicle Company lend themselves well to a global market or to a sustained production. Mr. Olds would soon tire of the business. Once the car was on the market, too many people would need to be involved. He would desire to work on a new project of his own design. The Company, likewise, did not have the numbers to support a major business endeavor. If it could give away the cars it would. There is too much altruistic energy for the competition of big business.

By becoming a part of General Motors Corporation, Mr. Olds could continue his innovative ways and continue to bring great value to the world.
