Musings

Life is a daily process of creation. each day we bring into our world something that was not there before. It could be a grand design of a new business or a new love relationship. But more likely it is in the small details that the process moves forward most consistently. We create a compliment and send it out to some unsuspecting soul. The ramifications of that small act of kindness are often unknown. We create a picture of something desired in our lives. That visualization sets up a process that moves our actions.

We complain about something that is not to our liking - that also is a process of creation that brings more of that type of activity to us.

I challenge you to journal your thoughts and actions for even a short time. Write down even the fleeting idea or the habitual complaints. Your thoughts control your words, which control your actions, which control your results.

I can say that I am too busy to take a break to recharge my mind. My words will guarantee that I will be too busy. I can say that I am sensitive to the heat. I will be miserable in the heat. I can say that I am not good at drawing. My art work will be less than desirable.

Alternatively, I can say that all types of weather have beauty and enjoyment. The day will be good no matter the weather. I can say that I enjoy a wide variety of foods. My meals will be more interesting. I can say that my life is abundant and I will more likely take the steps that make it so.

A Bit of Philosophy

"Do it, fix it, try it." is our favorite axiom. Karl Weick adds that "chaotic action is preferable to orderly inaction." "Don't just stand there, do something." is of the same ilk. Getting on with it, especially in the face of complexity, does simply come down to trying something. Learning and progress accrue only when there is something to learn from, and the something, the stuff of learning and progress, is any completed action. The process of managing this can best be thought of in terms of the experiment and, on a more pervasive basis, the experimenting process.

heard of, written long ago by a man who'd been dead for nearly
90 years. That little book changed my entire life"

I highly recommend that you pick up your own copy right away.
As a FRE E download the price is right, but the value is

What's in a Name - Marilyn Monroe

It may seem to be a bit odd to include a movie star in a business publication, but Marilyn Monroe, in her short life engaged in the production of movies as well. Her life clearly shows the importance of the name. As in your business or personal life, the name at the time of birth sets the foundation. Later names add a layer to that base.

(This series of articles on people who have made a difference in
the world of business and politics show the numbers from which
these men and women were and are working. It is helpful to see
what they have done with their energies. With some you will get
the impression that they were fighting their numbers. Others
show the smooth flow as they conformed. These articles profile
these people strictly from a reading of the charts. Through will
power and circumstances they may have overcome the negative
aspects or avoided the pitfalls that the numbers indicated could
be a problem. Obviously, an article cannot do full justice to the
individual. This is not intended to be a biography. It is a quick
sketch at best. By analyzing the chart and life of the person you
will see how most people intuitively follow their numbers. By
having a chart delineated you can know with certainty in
advance.)

Birth Name: Norma Jean Mortenson
Name used professionally: Marilyn Monroe
Birth Date: June 1, 1926

Life Path 16/7

Personality 23/5

Integrative Vision 24/6

Stage Name Data

Life Path 16/7
Expression 19/1
Soul Urge 16/7
Personality 12/3
Birth Day 1
Integrative Vision 19/1

The birth energies are much more balanced than the stage name. Had she not changed her name, and thus changed her image, she would probably have been a leader in the movement to allow woman a larger role in business. With an 8 expression she had the leadership qualities that would have allowed her to rise in any business of her choosing. The 5 personality would have opened opportunities to her. The birth name contained a 3 soul urge and a 6 integrative vision number, both solid numbers for an acting career.

Because of her glamorous image, many may have thought that she was a shallow person, but the 16/7 life path showed that she had unsuspected depth to her thinking. The karmic emphasis of the 16 would foreshadow her difficulties in relationships. Learning to connect with people appropriately was a major purpose of her life.

Did assuming the name of Marilyn Monroe help or hinder her career? With that change she took on several karmic challenges that would not have been necessary. The new name contained a 19/1 expression. This is a karmic roadblock that hindered her ability to understand the need for interdependence. She would often be unaware of her affect upon others. This attitude is reinforced with a new 19/1 integrative vision number.

The numbers form the birth date are not modified with a name change, so she kept the 16/7 life path number, which is a challenge in relationships as well. Relationships would never be easy for her. She had a lot of lessons to learn from each of her marriages. This heavy emphasis upon the 7 energy gave her an air of mystery and aloofness. She seemed to be an unreachable goddess, who evoked our adoration.

The 3 personality gave her an added sparkle that she used to fullest effect. The effervescence of her personality became one of her trademarks.

The very heavy load of added karma from the name change led to a troubled life and may have been her undoing. It appears to me that she was a stunning success in spite of the name, rather than as a result of the change. The alliteration of the name - Marilyn Monroe - her natural beauty and her charming personality all contributed to her success as an actress. She was not able to overcome the challenges of the karma and died at a young age. Some may say that the impact which she created in those few short years was worth the struggle. If she had understood the choice, would she have agreed? Would a different name choice have created as strong a life for her? In some instances overcoming the challenges, even if they are artificially created, is the key to success.

I think that I would have chosen an easier path. If Marilyn had fully understood the difficulties that her name change brought to her, could she have coped with them better? These are questions that you may need to ask when you are determining a name for your business or deciding to change your name.
