Musings

I have been too busy to do much musing. Perhaps it is at just
those times that I need to connect with my inner self the more.
By taking the time to meditate or to ponder, we often receive
clarity on the activities of the day. How much am I doing that
does not make a difference? How much of the activity is just a
means to put off doing something necessary, but unpleasant?

Well, I think that the best approach is to conclude here, get
this out and go to the inner sanctum.

Those of you who have been with me for a while know that last
April I joined up with Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Bill Harris,
Steven E. and 46 other co-authors on a journey to best-selling
author status. Thank you all for your wonderful support during
this process. It took twice as long as anticipated, but I am
happy to report that we made it. We reached the #2 slot on
barnesandnoble.com. We just could not oust the new Harry Potter
book from #1. This book is a part of the Wake Up, Live the Life
You Love series. The title is "Living on Purpose."

In appreciation of the encouragement and good wishes of so many
of you, I will send you a copy, autographed by me (only) at a
20% discount. In addition, I will throw in the shipping FRE E.
For my subscribers only, your total is $11.95 (list price -
$14.95) if you order on the special link below before (February
15, 2005). Extended to March 15, 2005 because of difficulty with
prior link.

The link in the last issue wrapped, which caused some of you a
problem. I have redone the procedure and extended the deadline.

A Bit of Philosophy

For example, if we have eaten them, we know what strawberries
taste like. We have in us somewhere knowledge - a memory, many
memories - of the taste of strawberries. Not just one berry
either, but many, more or less ripe, or sweet, or tasty. But how
can we really speak of the taste of a strawberry? When we bite
into a berry, we are ready to taste a certain kind of taste; if
we taste something very different, we are surprised. It is this
- what we expect or what surprises us - that tells us best what
we really know.

Whence Goeth Dan Rather

The Data:
Birth Name: Dan Irvin Rather, Jr.
Current Name: Dan Rather
Birth Date: October 31, 1931

Birth name Current Name

Integrative Vision (21)3
Life Path (10)1
Birthday (31)4
Expression (17)8 8
Soul Urge 16/7 7
Personality 19/1 (10)1

Dan Rather has recently announced that he is stepping down from
the anchor chair to work on special reports and field
investigation. From the numbers, this step seems to be
appropriate for him at this time. For the past 10 years ago he
entered a 14/5 period. This energy has made him increasingly
restless with the constraints of a daily schedule. He has been
itching for extensive travel and to be where the action is.

His campaign story over the questionable memo resulted primarily
from his boredom with the process. With an 8 expression, we
cannot entirely rule out his ego. He saw a chance for a scoop
and ran with it. Generally he is not comfortable with surface
knowledge. He had to feel reasonably sure from the assurances of
his staff that the memo was authentic. He works from his
intuition, which is usually very accurate. In this case,
apparently there were other factors which allowed him to
override his gut instinct. I think that he honestly believed in
the authenticity of the document. Therefore, his delayed
acceptance of the possibility of a sham was not a deliberate
obfuscation.

From reviewing his numbers, I do not believe that Dan Rather
consciously presented the story from malice or to promote a
political agenda. At a subconscious level he was looking for a
way out of the routine of the anchor desk, but his 8 expression
made it difficult for him to resign. Contrary to appearances,
his self-confidence is not as strong as he would like it to be.
He has a hard time saying "no" to those who are important to
him.

The numbers show him to be a deep thinker. Many times he sees
situations from a viewpoint that is at variance from the rest of
society. His analytical mind processes every detail. For this
reason it seems surprising that he would fall into the trap of
the memo. This uncharacteristic lack of care suggests a powerful
hidden personal motive.

Although to some, it may appear that Dan Rather has been slapped
down, this circumstance has allowed him to move into a position
that is much more appropriate to his energies at this point in
his life. Although he could have made this change without the
infamy of a scandal, he was prevented from taking this logical
step by his own inner insecurities. Perhaps he should have
consulted with a numerologist 10 years ago when his life path
period changed from a (31)4 to a 14/5. The 4 is stable and
detail oriented. The 14/5 can be rash and impulsive.

It is unlikely that he will retire. He is now in a position that
should suit him well. We will expect to see his influence for a
long time to come.

(Disclaimer: The statements in this article are based upon the
numbers of the subject. Numerology is not fate. Through
strength
of will he may have altered the path. The numbers show the
default position, which is always a strong tendency.)
