This year marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of the most versatile of America's founding fathers. With a 14/5 life path, Mr. Franklin could not be content to be confined within a single occupation or a single intimate relationship. The 14 is a karmic number that pulls the person into excesses of physical pleasures. We see the evidence in his life by the siring of an illegitimate son and later returning to an early sweetheart who had married another while Franklin was in England. They could not marry because the husband had fled to Barbados to escape his debts. They set up housekeeping without benefit of clergy. The relationship eventually developed into a common law marriage.

His business life was also diverse. The 14/5 becomes easily bored. It has too much zest for living. He had the talent to persuade anyone to any idea. His sales ability often stood him in good stead. His primary work was as a printer, but he contributed his writings to the publications and later established his own newspaper to promote his ideas. He set up a fire house and library, He is credited with a number of useful inventions. He would have been a much less interesting character without the influence of the 14/5.

Yet his biographers say that he was not particularly interested in philosophy and metaphysics; that his approach to life was on a strictly practical base. His 40/4 integrative vision number would certainly encourage a practical viewpoint. But the surface view is not adequate for a full description. His 7 soul urge would indicate that he was a very deep thinker, particularly about the nature of the universe and how he fit into it. He held much of his deep thought in a secret place within him, which was too private to share.

His 11/2 personality, 7 soul urge and 9 Expression all show that he had strong psychic abilities. His accurate intuition kept him out of trouble, and his gift of gab allowed him to talk his way out of tight places if necessary. I believe that it would be a misconception to say that he was not into the metaphysical and spiritual realms. He kept those interests secret and pondered them in his heart.

How did his numbers suit him to the American Revolution?

His 9 expression gave him an idealized vision of what society could become. His 14/5 gave him tolerance for other viewpoints and the persuasive ability to sway a vote. He was one to whom others looked for leadership, but he didn't necessarily demand the lime light. Benjamin Franklin was a needed balance wheel that also drove the Revolution forward with his vision and common sense.
