The Place of the Collective Unconscious in Business
At the unconscious level we are all connected. We each input the collective
unconscious by our acts and thoughts. As we learn to direct that input, our
influence increases. Numerology provides a clue to how we connect to this
powerful source.
Whether you are in business as an entrepreneur or working as an employee,
business interests consume a major part of your thinking. Therefore a large part
of your input into the collective unconscious will have a business emphasis.
Not only do we add to the collective unconscious, we are influenced by it. The
general patterns of a society that we call culture are a conglomerate of the
inputs to the collective unconscious from each member of that culture both
present and throughout the past. Emile Durkheim states that the collective
unconscious takes on a life of its own and becomes an entity sui generis. He
equates this concept to God.
What is acceptable in business depends to a great extent upon the make up of the
collective unconscious. Mush of the conflict in society stems from the stability
of the collective mind fighting against the innovation of current thinking. When
lawmakers pass a bill that is opposed by the collective unconscious, no matter
how desirable the intended result, it will be honored in the breach. The changes
in a culture are gradual, and truly stem from the people. Even a totalitarian
regime cannot gain power unless the collective unconscious has been conditioned
to accept this type of structure.
When there is a lot of emotion surrounding an issue or if the culture is at a
pivotal point for change, the input from a large number of people can bring
about quicker change.
Keep in mind, that to change the collective unconscious does not require a
majority input. For each issue there is a critical mass that must be obtained.
When that critical mass is reached the change will appear.
So what does this mean in business? The marketing methods and how business is
perceived by the populace determines what advertising and offers will be
accepted. If you make an offer that is outside the bounds of the collective
unconscious, no matter how good the offer, it will not be trusted and sales will
be disappointing.
The collective unconscious, being the sum total of all of us, brings in the
number energy of all of us. Therefore, by using the universal year energies,
numerology can give a picture of what is emphasized in the collective
unconscious at any given day.
Perhaps this brief explanation shows why pioneers have such a difficult
challenge. It often takes years for a new idea to receive acceptance. Over the
past 20 years, I have seen a growing acceptance of the business uses of
numerology. As more people are becoming favorably inclined the momentum is
speeding up. It does not yet have full main-stream acceptance, but I am getting
diminished skepticism.
