Musings:
The reports coming out of our western states is that cattle died during the
recent heat wave. My immediate thoughts are no doubt
totally impractical. Other parts of the country were experiencing record rains
and conditions in which these cattle could probably have survived. Could they
have been transported to an area that was more conducive to survival? The
logistics would require advance planning for transportation and location.
The ranchers could not know for sure how severe the conditions would get. They
could not know which of the cattle would succumb. Any relocation plan would be
unfeasible. But the connection with the Hurricanes in the south came to mind.
Some of the same considerations were shared in moving the people out of harms
way.
I am not likening the people of New Orleans to cattle, but there are some
similarities in the circumstances. Many of the people were trapped without a
good means of escape. Others could not comprehend that the devastation would be
so severe and decided to stay put. OThers were dependent upon rescue efforts
which never got to them.
I am not proposing a plan, just musing about situations that could be alleviated
with proper advance warnings and a suitable plan in place.
As we acclimate to the new energies, more people will intuitively take steps in
advance to get out of disaster areas. What do you think?

A Bit of Philosophy
...there is invariably great waste and excessive expenditure of tax money in
fighting crises instead of addressing problems. Further, there is an enormous
increase in the role government plays in our lives when we marshal the forces
of the federal bureaucracy to attack national issues. After the dismal
experience of the past 40 years of federal involvement in such areas as
agriculture, welfare, housing, Indian affairs, and the postal system, one might
suppose we would have learned some painful lessons of history. On the basis of
that history we might safely formulate a law: Problems increase in direct
proportion to the degree of attention given them and the amount of money spent
on them by the federal government.

Publishers, Inc., 1976.

The Perfect Business Chart
Many business owners or prospective business owners, when they seek our
services, want a perfect set of numbers. By definition, they usually mean a
chart that will make them an overnight success with minimal challenges. I would
probably wish for such a chart myself.
But such a chart is an unrealistic quest. What we strive to provide is a
workable chart. The primary considerations are coordinating the business data
with the numbers of the owner or owners. We would also look at the numbers of
key employees. Discussion must be had about the desired business style and legal
form. Some numbers support a partnership. Other numbers work better in a
corporation. The type of business also must be considered. A service business or
a professional practice may take a different set of numbers from a retail or
manufacturing enterprise. How much risk are you comfortable in taking. Do you
prefer the tried and true, or do you prefer to be on the cutting edge. Each
approach takes different numbers.
A further limitation in setting up a business name is availability. You may find
that several of your top picks are already taken. You do not want to go with a
name that has the potential for a lawsuit or a cease and desist order after you
have invested money, time and effort in building your business.
A workable compromise is often the only route to go. Hold out for the primary
needs and compromise on the lesser elements. If you still think that a perfect
chart is possible, you can spend so much time developing it that your business
never gets off the ground. Get movement as quickly as possible. An adage that
you will hear from many marketers is you don't have to get it perfect, you just
have to get it going.
Just because a perfect chart is not possible does not mean that you should just
work on a guess and a prayer. Some people have a finely enough tuned intuition
that they can know immediately when they have hit the right combination. For the
rest of us, the services of a competent numerologist will help to avoid drastic
mistakes. The full chart must be considered. Using only a single number or a few
core numbers gives a distorted view. It does not pay to skimp on a set-up that
will affect the course of your business for as long as it exists.
