Musings:

Hallowe'en has just passed. I don't know how wide spread the celebration is throughout the world, but in the USA it has become a major holiday. It's roots go back to the nature religions, with their recognition that the veil between the dimensions was thinnest at that this time of year. Phenomena were likely to appear. The Catholic Church, building upon St. Paul's statement that he became all things to all men so that thereby he might win a few, embraced Hallowe'en with a twist. To bring it into the church, All Hallow's Eve was added to the holiday as a time when the dead saints were likely to appear.

Over the centuries, the roots of the day were forgotten. It has now devolved into a time for children in costume to "Trick or Treat" and for adults to party. The connection between these activity and the early pagan roots is lost or greatly diminished.

We often ignore the base from which many of your traditions and cultural elements arise. These celebrations become cultural rather than religious, and we think that is how things have always been.

Every culture needs times of shared celebration. The traditions that surround each holiday create a common bond. Being a part of a culture means sharing its traditions, no matter how corrupted they have become from the original meaning.

So enjoy the cultural holidays to the fullest, even if you lament the loss of the "true meaning" of the day. In this sense, I have Jewish friends who celebrate Christmas, and protestant friends who enjoy Hanukkah.

A Bit of Philosophy

Some will say that pursuit of self interest is necessary for progress and I don't disagree, But what is our true self interest? Isn't my interest yours and yours mine? Each of us sees the world through our own eyes and that is our reality. We are individuals and unique. But if I conclude that my self interest depends on taking from you and I act on that conclusion, I have started a downward spiral in society. If you do the same, the spiral extends, speeds up and goes deeper. Societies condition depends on each of us . Actually there is no such thing as an entity called society. Society is the plural expression of all of us trying to live together. If one of us falters, we all stumble. If one of us acts for the good of all, we all gain.

To Everything There is a Season

The universe is orderly and consistent. For millions of years the cycles have followed their set progression. Without the certainty of this pattern, chaos would reign.

In the physical plane, we depend upon these cycles for our very survival. Day follows day. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west every day. The days make up the months and the months become years. We can be comfortable that the seasons will follow a natural progression as well. We can plan for the planting and reaping in due course. If we could not rely upon these cycles, planning would not be precise. With this knowledge we can plan a summer trip in the middle of winter and know the wardrobe to prepare. We would not plan on skiing at Aspen in July, nor would we plan to spend time on the beaches of Lake Michigan in December.

Yet when it comes to business, many entrepreneurs will Plant out of season and expect to reap at inappropriate times. The wise king Solomon said, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh...

One of the strong benefits of numerology in business is to know the cycles of your business in order to take the appropriate action at the proper time. If you are constantly out of sync with the flow, you may have great accomplishments, but you will struggle to find them.

There is a time to expand the business and a time to hold tight. There is a time promote and a time to receive the rewards of the effort. If you are planting in the harvest season, you may plow up the crop in preparing the ground for the new seed. Following the natural rhythm of the cycles will allow you to accomplish more with less effort than when taking action on a whim.

Numerology provides a precise picture of the business cycles. It is as accurate and reliable as the calendar in knowing the seasons. When you are in a winter season, you can know with assurance when spring will come. In a financial downtime, you can know when to expect a turnaround. Planning your business activities with this knowledge makes the game of business more fun. Numerology gives you some additional rules of the game.
