Musings:

In our part of the world it is Spring. The grass is growing, the
flowers are blooming and the sun is shining. Last week we had 5
inches of snow and cold temperatures. The saying in Indiana is that
if you don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes.

Have you felt like your business has been in a winter chill? Keep
the faith, for as sure as the weather will change, your energy
cycles also will change. The bleakness is temporary. The blossoming
is glorious. The wise King Solomon told us that to everything there
is a season. The calendar tells us the time of the year. Our
personal cycles tell us our personal season. So even for my Down
Under readers, are you coming into your personal Spring of
blossoming business? The numbers know!

A Bit of Philosophy

"...epoch making new products are arrived at via the adaptation
highway...

Descending from the sublime to the ridiculous, I made a fool of
myself in trying to adapt a woman's garment as an aid to golf. When
about 35 I started to play, and my pro told me I had to keep my
left arm straight. This I could not do. So I had a miniature corset
built to lace around my elbow. In my first try-out, I teed up my
ball, took a full swing, and fell flat on my face. I should have
known that a swing's centrifugal force cannot spend itself unless
the left arm can collapse at the finish."

The Past is Too Much With Us

What are the benefits of the past? Certainly we do not want to
start each moment from scratch. The accumulated knowledge of the
human race is a treasure chest upon which to build. This knowledge
is categorized into various branches, such as science, religion,
arts and medicine.

It seems to me that the secret is not to be bound by the past. Much
of past knowledge was in error, but yet we cannot totally discard
the past. Much ancient knowledge is still valid. Use the past with
discretion. Adapt it to your current uses and see how you can
improve upon the common knowledge.

On a personal level, we were each taught wisdom from our parents.
As a child it was easy to absorb the attitudes and ideas that made
our parents successful or kept them bound in limitations. It is
helpful to constantly and consciously evaluate our core beliefs for
current applicability.

Many of our parents and grandparents went through tough financial
times. They learned from this experience to be frugal. This
attitude fostered a feeling of limitation and want that fed on
itself. By being consciously frugal, they reinforced the attitude
of limitation, which created a cycle that is difficult to break,
even in successive generations. The sense of lack is a
self-fulfilling condition.

Our tie to the past can be strengthened by past successes as well.
How we view these achievements determines whether they are a
stepping stone to even greater achievement, or whether they set the
parameters of what we believe we can achieve.

Physical mementos of the past can hold us to the past. Again, our
attitude about these "things" determines their affect upon us.
Holding on to too many items or holding too tightly to the tangible
evidence of past successes and failures binds us to those past
events.

Sometimes discarding this weight can allow us to move forward. Many
people lost everything in Hurricane Katrina or in other natural
disasters. Although their is an empty feeling from the loss of
things as they were, these people are given the opportunity to
venture beyond their former life. Each of these individuals has the
choice to mourn the loss for the rest of his or her life, or to
move into a new era of accomplishment.

I am not insensitive to the suffering. But when we hold too tightly
to things, the universe sometimes helps us to break free. If you
can create the process of releasing on a regular basis, you will be
able to fill the void with wonderful new benefits.

Numerology shows the cycles of your life. Some energies are
conducive to discarding the junk from our lives. Other energies
encourage holding on to everything. By knowing what influences you
are under at any given moment, you will know when to clean house.
