Religion. politics, marketing and numerology
Many fields have a popular face for the masses and an inner sanctum for the
adept. This situation is most noticeable in the religions of the world. The true
mysteries are reserved for those devotees who spend their lives in study and
worship. The "religion" as taught to the masses may be a gross distortion of the
teachings. Often, this dichotomy exists because a full understanding can only be
acquired by a lifetime of intense effort.
In other cases the tenets of the faith are deliberately misrepresented as a
means of manipulation and control by the hierarchy of whatever sect or
denomination is making the presentation. New groups are formed by people who
have a limited grasp of the magnitude of the belief. A human phenomenon is that
those with the most limited understanding tend to become the most adamant in
their beliefs.
You see this same effect in politics. People become polarized by party
affiliation. This approach also extends to business and marketing. A highly
recognized marketer propounds a theory. It becomes the truth about marketing,
whether it works or not. Many inexperienced marketers will then copy this idea
with frustrating results. The original marketer may be a true adept, but he nay
have failed to include the key that made his system work. I am not even
considering the many who merely parrot what someone else has said.
Yet, in all these areas, people continue to blindly follow. Anything that does
not fall within the parameters of their belief is rejected. Their lives are
limited by the lack of ability or willingness to explore outside that box. The
minister or priest threatens dire afterlife consequences for those who get out
of line. The politician presents warnings of impending doom for the country if
his plan is not accepted. The marketer promises great riches with little effort
if you will only follow his program.
Numerology is truly a power tool for business, but most business people are
unwilling to explore this potential. They are rooted in traditional concepts.
They would rather use hand tools because that is the method with which they are
familiar. Those who do use it to good advantage (including some Fortune 500
companies) are secretive about it. Some are embarrassed; some fear that their
customers would question their judgment; and some have a gross misconception of
the basis for numerology.
In numerology, just as with religion, politics and marketing, there is a popular
face for the masses and the knowledge of the adept. And, as in these other
fields, the masses rate the field based upon the popular face. There is a good
reason that actors have long sought out numerologists to choose a stage name.
The right name change can propel him to the top. This benefit is not limited to
the theater. Give your business the same advantage.
