Musings:
Those of you who have been with me for a while will know the saga of our cats.
Many of you offered suggestions about how to get Blackie to allow me to pet her.
She still will not permit touching, but I am resigned to that limitation until
she is ready. we have our conversations and she does let me feed her.
A few weeks ago, I found Trouble's body on the patio of a vacant house. He had
been shot and killed. I expected that Blackie would come closer as a result.
Without Trouble to lead the way, however, she acted as if she were unsure of her
welcome. She is gradually acting more comfortable. Those of you who advocated
patience may yet be vindicated.

A Bit of Philosophy
A world in which a man cannot help himself is quite unthinkable! To whom shall a
man turn if he cannot trust himself? Is he doomed to face life waiting for some
outside salvation that may never come? Are most of us doomed to futility because
not enough professionals can ever be trained to save us from ourselves? Is there
a way by which we can use our own existing powers to help ourselves? Did nature
provide a factor within each of us for his own salvation? It must be so, at
least at the psychological level.

Numerology Put in its Place
Because I am a passionate numerologist you may think that I have a bias against
other metaphysical sciences. Such is not the case, I trust practitioners of the
other disciplines and respect the work of many of them. Why the qualified
endorsement? As with numerology, the benefit of each discipline is highly
dependent upon the expertise and the integrity of the practitioner.
Every profession has its share of incompetents. You have heard of quack doctors
and shyster lawyers. Likewise you may know readers in the metaphysical
disciplines who really don't understand what they are doing. Does a dishonest
professional discredit the profession.? Sure he does. Does an incompetent
practitioner mean that the profession is a fraud? Definitely not!
Numerology has a noble place in the history of metaphysics. From the earliest
recorded history it has been honored by leaders and rulers. But even with this
acceptance, it was not for the masses. The decision makers reserved the practice
to themselves. Today we are blessed with a general knowledge made readily
available. Perhaps the situation feared by Pythagoras, the founder of modern
numerology, has come about. He did not want the information to be widely
distributed lest it get into the wrong hands and be used for corrupt purposes.
To protect the integrity of his teachings, he did not allow his students to take
notes or to write books about the subject.
After seeing some of today's literature, I may agree with him. However, serious
practitioners and researchers have enhanced the field and made it useful to the
masses.
Although I have restricted my main study and practice to numerology, I am aware
of its limitations. It was never meant to be a substitute for our own judgment
and decision making. We cannot replace the responsibility to live life as we
were meant to live it with the reading of the numbers. The answers are within
you. The numbers help you to clarify what you already know and to support you in
the decisions that you know at a deep level.
I had a Tarot reading from a friend today. It gave me insights that were from a
different viewpoint from my own reading of my day. I am blessed to have close
friends in all the metaphysical disciplines. These are people whose work I
respect. I am comfortable referring people to them for a reading and seek out
their services for myself. To think that numerology was the total package that
eliminates the need for the other disciplines would be like an optometrist
disdaining the audiologist.
